The Windsor Planning Commission will enjoy some key continuity as Commissioner Dale Scott is returning for another term.
The Windsor Town Council voted unanimously Tuesday, Dec. 12, to reappoint Scott to another four-year term on the commission.
Scott’s first four-year term will expire on Dec. 31.
The commission does not meet in December, so Scott’s next opportunity to contribute as a member will come at the commission’s January meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 24, after the start of his second term.
“I’m looking forward to continuing my service to the town,” Scott said in a Thursday, Dec. 14, interview. “The first term was a learning process, so now that I’ve reached the end of that term, it’s been beneficial to have the experience that I’ve gained in order to contribute more in the second term.”
Scott’s tenure as a commissioner came about as the result of a request; he was asked to serve and willingly answered the call.
One key quality informing Scott’s perspective as a commissioner is his time spent as a town resident.
“I’ve lived in the same Windsor area my entire life,” he said. “I’ve moved five times, and I’ve been a mile to a mile-and-a-half from start to finish, so I’ve been in this area a lifetime. I’ve got a good background of the history of the town and changes that have occurred and the direction that I would like to see it go in the future.”
The Planning Commission includes Chairman Leonard L. Marshall, Councilman David Adams, G. Devon Hewitt, LaTara Harris, Ricky Vaughan, Larissa Williams and Scott.
“Each member contributes a different viewpoint,” said Scott, who noted that his viewpoint is informed not only by his lifetime residency but also by his experience in the real estate business, which gives him some insight that others may not have.
Scott is managing broker vice president with Scott & Associates Realtors Inc.
He also serves the community as deputy fire chief for the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department.
“I do have a vested interest in the town,” he said.
