Chief Walt “Red Hawk” Brown and other representatives of the Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southampton County recently gave a presentation to students at Sunnyside Elementary School in McKenney on the history of the tribe and its recorded language.
The presentation, which included native dancing, was given to around 250 second through fifth grade students and their teachers.
