The holiday season is upon us and you are starting to think about holiday shopping. We all tend to concentrate on our families and especially the youngsters.  

The Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program looks out for youngsters in our communities, but we also look at the other end of the age spectrum. There are hundreds of seniors on our client roles living on limited incomes who are no longer able to drive, don’t have families nearby or have other issues that will keep them from enjoying the holidays.  

The Christian Outreach Program’s Angel Tree project reaches out to those individuals with a letter that gives them an opportunity to tell us what they wish they could have to open on Christmas. These wishes are transformed into angels by our volunteers, and the angels are distributed to local businesses that host our angel trees.  

Caring individuals can select an angel, purchase the requested gift, wrap the gift and return it to the place where they picked up the angel. Christian Outreach volunteers will then collect the gifts and ensure that the recipients receive them in time for Christmas.  

Businesses hosting the Angel Trees are: 54 Beans Espresso Bar and Café, Hair Stop, Cockeyed Rooster, Luter Family YMCA, Cofer Auto, Pink Picket Fence, Cypress Creek Golfers Club, Q Daddy’s BBQ, Dock of the Bay, Ringo’s Donuts, Virginia Hair and Nail Design and Wharf Hill Brewing Co.
