Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death that occurred in the 12000 Block of Smiths Neck Rd. in the Carrolton area of Isle of Wight County. According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call came in at approximately 5:30 p.m.

“When deputies arrived, they discovered a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” the release said. “The male was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, where he succumbed to his injuries.”

The identity of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.
