Julie Slye, one of two candidates running for Isle of Wight County treasurer, had outspent her opponent, Dahlis Atkins, as of the end of August.
Slye reported just over $5,300 in campaign contributions and just over $4,100 in expenses on her campaign finance reports to the Virginia Department of Elections, the most recent of which was due Sept. 15 for July 1 through Aug. 31.
Atkins, who’s been doing the job on an interim basis since Treasurer Judith Wells retired on July 1, reported just over $3,400 in contributions and just under $1,500 in expenses on her campaign finance report for the same period.
Supporting Atkins are Wells and two other current employees of the treasurer’s office, according to an itemized list of donations over $100 included in Atkins’ report.
Slye’s report lists three itemized donations, ranging from $200 to $500.
The next reports are due Oct. 16 for donations and expenses received Sept. 1-30.
