The Isle of Wight County Museum’s afternoon with Isle of Wight County Parks and Recreation’s Summer Blast Camp at Windsor Town Center on Wednesday, July 5, focused on life on the homefront during World War II. Participants planted their very own victory garden, learned about rationing and made a corn ornament.
“The war caused disruptions at home as Americans faced shortages and rationing which required cooperation and creativity,” Museum Director J.L. England said. “Campers asked a lot of really good questions and were able to learn that the effects of this global conflict had a lasting impact in Isle of Wight County.”
