Tornado watch issued as Hurricane Ian nears second landfall

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Windsor and the region as Hurricane Ian approaches its second landfall in South Carolina today.
The tornado watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. Friday evening for Suffolk, along with 22 counties and eight cities in eastern Virginia and nine counties in North Carolina, according to the advisory released by the NWS office in Wakefield.
The National Weather Service forecast for today said the rain could be heavy at times and breezy, with a northeast wind around 22 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 34 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Tonight, NWS said rain will continue through 2 a.m. and again could be heavy at times. It will continue to be breezy with an east wind 19 to 22 m.p.h. decreasing to between 9 and 12 m.p.h. Winds could gust as high as 34 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
