The Windsor-based Community Electric Cooperative and RECORE recently announced a new campaign to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and honor all those who are and continue to be impacted by breast cancer.

In support of everyone touched by breast cancer, CEC and RECORE have started CECares — a sincere pledge and commitment to the community.

Breast cancer is not a disease that has a single story. It is as diverse and complex as our global community and it profoundly impacts everyone it touches — patients, loved ones, doctors, caregivers, advocates and more, according to a press release from CEC and RECORE.

“CEC upholds four core values: integrity, accountability, innovation and commitment to community,” said Steve Harmon, president and CEO of Community Electric Cooperative and RECORE. “We are most honored to support the Susan G. Komen organization, and I could not be more proud of our team showing they genuinely care — not just about raising funds, but about making a difference in so many lives.”

This month, you will see linemen donning bright pink hardhats to honor the softer, often untold side of a breast cancer fight. In keeping with national brands and organizations, the traditional logos for CEC and RECORE will also transition to shades of pink. The logos will return to their usual colors in November, but the organizations’ commitment to issues that impact members, staff and the community won’t diminish.
