Dukes start strong against Eagles, but succumb 76-31

The Windsor High School boys basketball team began strongly in its game against visiting Greensville County High School on Wednesday, but by the second quarter the Eagles really kept the ball in their claws. At the end of the second half, they had 41 points to the Dukes’ 13.
The third quarter was more of the same with Greensville frequently outscoring Windsor. The Dukes were not idle, though, just often outpaced. They had raised their score to 22 by the start of the fourth. Ultimately, the game ended 76-31 in the Eagles’ favor.
Marcus Hardy, who’s in his inaugural year as Windsor’s coach, said afterward that his team had “a transition defense early in the game, but once that broke down the Eagles were able to advance.”
Later asked which of his players showed particular strength on the court, Hardy stated via email, “Chase Williams played a strong game, as well as Paul Turner. They have been leading us all year.”
Earlier in the week, the Dukes had played against Charles City County on Monday, and earned 56 points to the visitors’ 84.
WHS was scheduled to visit Sussex Central on Friday, but results were not available before press time.
