FRANKLIN — June Davis Spivey (also known as J.D. or “Deepy”) began his new life in heaven on Oct. 15, 2019, at the age of 93.
Born in Windsor, Virginia, he went on to serve as a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Spivey; her sons, Dale Robertson of Windsor and Glen Robertson of Virginia Beach; her daughter, Kathy Moore of Suffolk; and two grandchildren.
From his first wife, the late Anne Winder Griffis, their surviving two sons, Andrew Gordon “Drew” Spivey of North Prince George, and Larry Davis Spivey of Colonial Heights; daughter, Kay S. Walsh; his sister, Jackie Spivey Blythe of Franklin; the family of his late brother, Palmer Spivey; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; beloved friends, Chuck and Betsy Bradshaw of Franklin; and J.D.’s beloved dog, Katelyn.
The funeral with Masonic rites will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wright officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home, and suggests that contributions may be made to The National WWII Museum, 945 Magazine St., New Orleans, LA 70130.
