ISLE OF WIGHT
An employee of the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a Virginia State Police investigation, according to a Friday, Sept. 6, press release from Isle of Wight County Sheriff James Clarke Jr.
Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the VSP, told Windsor Weekly on Tuesday afternoon that Capt. Julian Evans is the individual in question. This was confirmation of an online report from other media.
Initially, neither law enforcement agency disclosed the identity of this employee, nor provided any information regarding his or her alleged offense. Anya had simply confirmed on Friday that her agency was indeed conducting a criminal investigation.
Clarke’s press release stated that no arrest has been made at this time, and that, “Due to the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment regarding this matter at this time.”
The sheriff’s office website lists him as operations commander.
