Membership Appreciation Picnic: American Legion Post 49 is presenting this at 818 S. Church St., Smithfield, from 4 to 7 p.m. Members of the Post and their families are encouraged to come out meet the current Post officers and join with other members in celebrating the many achievements of the Post this past year. Prospective members of the Post who already belong to the American Legion or current and former servicemen and women eligible to join are cordially invited. Fall Food Drive: The IOWC Farm Bureau Women’s Committee is sponsoring the collection through Nov. 15. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off at either of our offices, located at 79 E. Windsor Blvd., Windsor, or 225C Battery Park Blvd., Smithfield.
Famous Fish Fry: The Suffolk Shrine Club invites you to attend its annual fundraiser, which takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. at 500 Elizabeth St., Suffolk. Meals can be eaten there or taken out. The cost is $10 per ticket. Children ages 8 and under can eat for free.

Christmas Craft Fair: The Woman’s Club of Windsor will host the event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Windsor Community House, 14 Community Drive. Vendors will include Younique, Tupperware, Scentsy, Pampered Chef and M.A.M.A.S. There will also be for sale bake goods and lunches of homemade chicken salad and pimento cheese.
First Saturdays Artisan Market: This free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gallery 1606, located on the corner of Highway 58W (18001 Southampton Parkway) and Main Street in Capron. Featured will be exhibitions and sale by local artisans and craftsmen with specialties in decorative arts for fall, including folk art, handcrafted pens, metal art, repurposed furniture, stained glass, oil paintings, Naive American art, photography, herbal soaps, wearable art, jewelry, turned wood, crochet, fabric creations, hand-built pottery and more. Windsor Craft Fair: This will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Windsor Ruritan Community House, 14 Community Drive. Sponsored by Creative Crafts by Wanda, this event is not to be confused with the one presented the day before by the Windsor Woman’s Club. A large lineup of handmade items and direct sales vendors for the season will be featured. Call 735-6750 for more information.

Blood Drive: This will take place in Trinity United Methodist Church, 201 Cedar St., from noon to 6 p.m. The Christmas Store is the sponsor. Smithfield Baptist Church’s Johnny Barlow Sunday School Class will provide the food canteen. Each donor will receive a holiday ornament while supplies last. Bethlehem Ruritan Jam: Drew Holland and The Backwater Tradition Band will perform from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. They are playing for tips only, so please give generously. Truck Driver Training: Paul D. Camp Community College’s Division of Workforce Development is offering truck driver training on Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 18, 2017-Jan. 21, 2018, from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 117 on the Hobbs Suffolk Campus, 271 Kenyon Road. The training prepares students for the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) test. Financial assistance is available.
