The Bon Secours Mercy Health Foundation (BSMH) announced Monday, Oct. 14, that Carrie Miller was named president of the Bon Secours Hampton Roads Foundation. 

The Bon Secours news release stated that Miller has transitioned into this role following her tenure as senior gift officer, organizational giving for the foundation.

Currently, the foundation is focusing on supporting the enhancement of facilities and programs such as the Harbour View Medical Center expansion in Suffolk, women’s imaging services in Portsmouth, community health programs and staff education.

“In this role, I look forward to helping Bon Secours Hampton Roads advance health care in our market by enhancing our donor experience and elevating our philanthropic impact,” Miller said. “Taking on the role of president is both an honor and a responsibility I embrace with great enthusiasm, especially as Bon Secours Hampton Roads is experiencing tremendous growth.”

Miller has been a vital part of BSMH and the foundation for nearly a decade, securing significant grant funding from both private and government sources to support Hampton Roads. Her successful fundraising efforts have benefitted numerous community health programs, including the Care-A-Van and the recent opening of the Healthy Food Pantry at the Community Health Hub in Portsmouth.

“Together with our dedicated team and our donors, I look forward to advancing the health and well-being of the Hampton Roads community, ensuring that our initiatives continue to make a meaningful impact,” she continued.

In addition to her fundraising achievements, Miller has held various leadership roles within Bon Secours Hampton Roads. She has served on the market’s executive leadership committee, acted as the market liaison for advocacy and government affairs and chaired the sponsorship committee.

Before joining Bon Secours, she served as development and operations director for Junior Achievement of Greater Hampton Roads. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health science from Clemson University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Virginia.
