Windsor under Tornado Warning

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Tornado Warning for southwestern Isle of Wight County and northeastern Southampton County until 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8.
The NWS is reporting that at 2:58 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Windsor, moving northwest at 35 mph.
The report also notes that this dangerous storm will be near Zuni around 3:05 p.m. and Ivor around 3:10 p.m.
Regarding the impact of the storm, NWS reports, “Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.”
As for precautionary/preparedness actions, NWS urges people to take cover immediately.
“This storm has a history of producing tornadoes,” the NWS report states. “Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.”
