The Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southampton County celebrated its eighth annual Judeo-Christian Native American Revival, Crusade For Christ at Cattashowrock Town in Courtland on Sept. 21, with around 120 people in attendance.

A tribe news release noted that the day before the revival, Saturday, at 6 p.m. the celebration of Shabbat/Communion took place, as officiated by Rabbi Zion’s Rose and Chief Red Hawk Brown.

The revival’s invited guests included the Bazelel Dancers and the Bethany of The South Dancers from Israel. Both dance teams, with 24 dancers total, representing the Lion of Judah, danced honoring the 12 tribes of Israel with flags representing each tribe.

Their dance also included a “Unity Dance,” seeking to bring all nations together. 

Ellen Day’s Shofar Team out of North Carolina and Pastor Andre Best’s Shofar Ministries out of Richmond combined with 12 Shofars blowing to “Open The Flood Gates” to the revival.

DeMaurice Ward on the keyboard with his musical team out of New Bern, North Carolina, provided the worship music and songs. Chief Brown was the worship leader.

The climax of the revival leading up to the preached word was the song they performed, “Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord,” as a precursor to the preached word by Pastor Quinton D. Franklin of GEMS Church out of Franklin. Franklin preached from the theme “It’s Coming Together” from the book of Ezekiel. 

At the end of the preached word, all attendees were invited into the sacred powwow circle for an anointing spiritual and physical healing with prayer. 

At the close of the benediction, the tribe treated the 36 invited guests to dinner at Applebee’s in Franklin.
