The Windsor Police Department and Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office are inviting the public to join them for National Night Out 2024 on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Windsor Town Center, which is located at 23361 Courthouse Highway in Windsor.
The event will feature free hot dogs, drinks, chips, a bounce house, crime prevention information, fire prevention information, children’s crafts, free school supplies for children and more.
WPD Chief Rodney “Dan” Riddle described National Night Out as an opportunity for citizens to make connections with other citizens, civic groups, community organizations and public safety organizations.
“It provides opportunities for citizens to learn more about the community they live in,” he said. “From a law enforcement perspective, we get an opportunity to educate and provide our citizens with important crime prevention information to help them protect themselves and prevent them from becoming victims.”
He noted that the WPD focuses on educating citizens about scams, fraud schemes, identity theft protection and internet safety.
“WPD also works on enhancing relationships with our citizens, building trust and learning what the community is concerned about regarding public safety issues,” he said.
Riddle issued a direct invitation to those in the area.
“Come out and meet your community, from public safety organizations to civic groups, it is an opportunity to learn about what is going on in Windsor,” he said. “We look forward to seeing you on the 6th!”
