Isle of Wight County Schools’ fleet services completed installation of a new, 6.8 liter propane engine into a bus for transporting students with special needs. This is the first engine installation to take place inside of the fleet services facility in more than 10 years. The bus has been inoperable since the 2022-2023 school year, creating a disadvantage for pupil transportation. Fleet services began the engine installation before winter break and completed the repair in early January. This is a major accomplishment by the IWCS Transportation Department and demonstrates its commitment to ensuring every vehicle in the fleet is at the highest level of readiness possible. Technician Troy Carr assists with the motor installation.
