The Walters Community Carnival returns for its second year after its successful 2022 debut at the Walters Ruritan Community House in Carrsville.
The second edition of the carnival, which is free to the public, is set for Saturday, Sept. 9, and it will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The event’s free offerings will include bounce houses, sno-cones, popcorn, hot dogs and carnival games.
Walters Ladies Community Club President Shawn Carr shared more details, including new features that will be present at the carnival this year.
“We’ve got the fire safety trailer that teaches the kids what to do if there’s a fire,” she said, noting that the trailer belongs to the city of Franklin and is used by the city, Southampton County and Isle of Wight County.
She noted that the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department will be handling the fire safety trailer at the carnival while also bringing a firetruck to present to attendees.
“State police will have a vehicle there,” Carr said. “The (Isle of Wight County) Sheriff’s Office is bringing their rock-climbing wall.”
She indicated that there will be more games to participate in this year.
“We have three bounce houses, or inflatables,” she said. “We have one that’s an obstacle course this year.”
While the carnival’s activities will be free, there will be purchase opportunities at the event courtesy of craft vendors inside the community house and a bake sale.
The Walters Ruritan Community House is located at 27746 Walters Highway in Carrsville.
