The Windsor Town Council made some decisions during its April 5 meeting that affected the makeup of the town’s drainage committee and that could impact the composition of the Isle of Wight County Economic Development Authority.
Windsor Town Manager William Saunders noted in an April 5 staff report that there were three veterans of the town’s drainage committee who were willing to be reappointed. They were listed in the report as Butch Ambrose, whose current term expires May 13, Sue Meadows, whose current term expires the same day, and Durwood Scott, whose term expired March 14.
“The three members of the drainage committee listed on the staff report were reappointed,” Saunders stated during an April 7 email interview.
The council also considered who will replace Tony Ambrose on the Isle of Wight County EDA. Ambrose’s term expires June 30.
“Reuben ‘Sam’ Askew was recommended to Isle of Wight County for consideration for appointment to the Isle of Wight County Economic Development Authority,” Saunders stated.
It was on the Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors’ Thursday evening, April 20, meeting agenda to consider Tony Ambrose’s replacement for the county’s EDA.
Also in Saunders’ April 5 staff report, he noted that Debra Hicks and Lewis Edmonds were both appointed to the Windsor Board of Zoning Appeals by the Isle of Wight Circuit Court on March 29.
Earlier in March, the council had recommended Edmonds to the court as a candidate to fill an unexpired, five-year term on the BZA that will end on Dec. 31, 2027. The council also recommended Hicks to the court as a candidate to fill an unexpired, five-year BZA term that will end on Dec. 31, 2024.
