Blackwater Regional Library will host a holiday donation drive, “Santa for Seniors,” to collect items for senior citizens in the community.
“We understand seniors in our community are often underserved, which is something we hope to remedy this holiday season,” library officials said in a news release.
To accomplish this mission, each branch of Blackwater Regional Library will host a donation drive to collect items such as large-print puzzle books, puzzles, playing cards, socks/slippers, lap blankets and personal care items. A full list of items may be found in Blackwater Regional Library locations throughout the service area — Carrollton, Claremont, Courtland, Franklin, Smithfield, Surry, Wakefield, Waverly and Windsor.
Items collected Nov. 14-Dec. 10 will be delivered to local organizations assisting seniors in the community.
“We appreciate the community’s willingness to join us as we come together to aid in senior care this holiday season,” library officials said. “Blackwater Regional Library stands strong in its commitment to support the community through service and action.”
