Windsor High School’s varsity golf team opened its season with a three-stroke victory Monday, Aug. 15, and then achieved a dominant triumph Wednesday, Aug. 17, in a four-team field at Cypress Creek Golfers’ Club in Smithfield.
The Dukes produced a nine-hole team score of 179 on Monday against Lakeland High School, which finished with a 182 team score.
Leading Windsor individually on the day was sophomore Lucas Patterson, who shot a 44. Each shooting a 45 for the Dukes were junior Aidan Dickinson, senior Carson Pierce and senior Trevor Smith.
Windsor generated a nine-hole 183 team score on Wednesday, with the closest competition being 27 strokes back. Greensville County High School shot a 210, Southampton High School shot a 228, Sussex Central High School had a 258, and Franklin High School finished with a 259.
Patterson once again led his team with a score of 44. Smith produced a 45, while Pierce and Dickinson each scored a 47.
The Dukes (2-0) face Franklin, Greensville, Southampton and Surry County High School on Monday, Aug. 22, at Dogwood Trace Golf Course in Petersburg at 3:30 p.m.
