WHS softball, baseball teams start week 2-0

Windsor High School’s varsity softball and baseball teams built on their winning seasons thus far by going 2-0 through the first two-thirds of their games this week.
The Lady Dukes routed host Franklin High School 16-1 on Tuesday, April 26, after shutting out visiting Park View High School of South Hill on Monday, April 25, by a score of 10-0.
In Monday’s game, Windsor’s Melissa Carr hit a solo home run, her fourth homer of the year, and Emily Fowler pitched a no-hitter.
Entering their Thursday, April 28, game against visiting Surry County High School, the Lady Dukes held an overall record of 10-2 this year.
Windsor’s baseball team, which entered Thursday with a 6-3 record, shut out host Franklin 12-0 on Tuesday and defeated visiting Park View 7-5 on Monday.
Gavin Fowler was the winning pitcher against the Dragons.
The junior varsity Windsor baseball team defeated Park View 10-0, and the JV Windsor softball team fell 11-1 on Monday.
The same day, the Windsor varsity girls soccer team played visiting Park View to a 3-3 tie. The Lady Dukes’ goals came from Brianna McDade, who scored two, and Kelsie Hove.
The Lady Dukes earned their second win of the season Wednesday, April 27, with a 4-2 victory over host Nandua High School.
Windsor’s varsity boys soccer team fell 4-0 to visiting Park View on Monday.
