The Windsor High School varsity softball and girls tennis squads recently earned dominant victories as they continue to shine in 2022.
The Lady Dukes won 20-9 on the diamond Tuesday, April 19, against host Isle of Wight Academy, with Melissa Carr going 5-for-5 for Windsor, hitting a three-run home run — her third of the year.
Also starring for the Lady Dukes were Hailey Couch, who went 3-for-5, hitting a grand slam and driving in a total of six runs for the game; Maja Angle, who went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer; Sara Brooks, who went 4-for-5; and Emily Fowler, who also went 4-for-5, in addition to being the game’s winning pitcher.
The win took Windsor’s overall record to 8-1 this season.
Windsor’s varsity girls tennis team improved to 7-1 on Tuesday when it defeated visiting Sussex Central High School 9-0. Five of the Lady Dukes’ seven victories have been 9-0 shutouts.
On the soccer pitch, Windsor struggled Tuesday. Its varsity girls team fell 8-0 to host Bruton High School, its junior varsity girls soccer team fell 4-0, and its JV boys soccer team fell 10-0.
