Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

To the Editor:

On Sunday afternoon, Nov. 29, 2020, I took two large bags of trash in my car trunk to the dump in Carrsville. This was my third trip and on my first trip I asked the attendant for instructions on where I should put the different types of trash. Since I had to use different dumpsters for the two bags, I parked between the two of them. Removing the first one was no problem, however the second, much larger bag, fell and split open. It made a big mess and after I voiced a quiet expletive, I looked for the attendant. He looked at me and said, “The shovel is over there.” I stood there for a few minutes because I thought maybe I had misunderstood what he said. I got the shovel and as I tried to move some of the trash, a white pickup truck pulled up and out jumped a man telling me to give him that shovel. I started telling him what happened and he simply said, “I wish I had been here sooner.”

I thanked him, got back in my car and sat there for a few minutes because my back was hurting so bad. As I turned into my driveway, I realized that I had not asked his name nor had I thanked him to my satisfaction. So, this is a very heartfelt thank you to that gentleman in the white pickup truck. You have no idea what your kindness meant to me. And, regardless of what we see and read in the news today, the good people in this world far outnumber the bad!
