Several deadlines are approaching for voters who want to cast their ballots in the Nov. 3 election.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot was 5 p.m. Oct. 23. Voters can drop off their marked and sealed ballots at their local registrar’s office or polling place by 7 p.m. on Election Day. If returned by mail, absentee ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by noon on Nov. 6.

In addition to regularly scheduled hours, local voter registration offices will be open Oct. 24, and Oct. 31 for early in-person voting. The last day for early in-person voting is Oct. 31. Registered voters do not need to provide a reason for voting absentee and you do not have to fill out an application to vote early and in person; they can simply go to their general registrar’s office or a satellite voting location, show ID and cast a ballot.

Anyone with questions about voting identification requirements or any aspects of the upcoming Nov. 3 general election may contact the Virginia Department of Elections at 800-552-9745, by email at info@elections.virginia.gov, or visit elections.virginia.gov for more information.

Voters can track the status of their ballot applications online at elections.virginia.gov/voterInformation, and the department also shares information through social media on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
