CARRSVILLE

Faculty members and administration of Carrsville Elementary School created a parade on Thursday afternoon. All of this was to let their young Bulldogs know how much they are loved and missed during the novel coronavirus situation. Earlier this week, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam ordered schools remain closed for the rest of the academic year.

Many of the cars in the lineup featured personal messages. As they drove past the students, the drivers honked horns and waved at those students and parents who waited to see them.

One of those youngsters was Bentley Slayton of Walters. With his father, Michael, they waited for the procession at the Walters Ruritan Club parking lot. When the time came, the 7-year-old boy’s second grade teacher, Mrs. Donna Pittman, recognized Bentley and called out to him.

The time away CES has not been an idle one for the student. Michael said his son has plenty of work to do at home, such as math and reading.
