ISLE OF WIGHT

A Newport News man is dead after his vehicle crashed into another on Wednesday in Isle of Wight County, according to information provided by Sgt. Michele Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police.

The VSP was called at approximately 9:20 p.m. to investigate the two-car accident, which was on northbound Route 644 (Bowling Green Road), south of Route 602 (Longview Drive).

Anaya stated, “Preliminary investigations reveal that the driver of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, Dustin J. Williams, was traveling northbound on Route 644 above the posted speed limit. Williams crossed over into the southbound lanes of Route 644 and into the path of a 2002 Acura, sideswiped the vehicle, which caused the Jeep to overturn and eject both driver and passenger.”

She continued, “Due to the injuries sustained in the accident, Williams died at the scene. Passenger, April Lynn Miller-Bouford, of Mananas, Virginia, suffered major injuries and was taken to Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News. The driver the 2002 Acura, Terrell Harden, of Zuni, Virginia, was taken to Obici Hospital in Suffolk, with non-life threatening injuries.”

Anaya also added that early investigation showed that both speed and alcohol contributed to the accident. Further, neither Williams, 30, who was of Newport News, nor Miller-Bouford were wearing safety belts at the time. Notifications have been made to family members.
