The Woman’s Club of Windsor has adopted a special project this year working with Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls is a disaster relief organization that was founded by philanthropists and shoe executives to help those impacted by the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Their mission is to provide new and slightly worn shoes to those in need. The shoes that you no longer need or want can actually provide an opportunity for others. Without shoes, children cannot attend school and adults cannot work and walking can become unbearable.
We started our collection of shoes in September, and to date we have been able to donate 225 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls. We were honored to meet with the CEO of Soles4Souls Buddy Teaster and Stephanie Hathaway, the regional director in Virginia.
If you would like to help with this project and donate new or used shoes, you may drop them off in our donation box located in the lobby at Farmers Bank, Old Point National Bank and at Anytime Fitness.
To learn more about the Woman’s Club of Windsor and our projects to help our community, our next membership meeting will be on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Community House, 14 Community Drive.
