BOYKINS
Sponsored by the Boykins Main Street Initiative, the Boykins Pumpkin Fest returns after a year’s absence. According to chairwoman Sandy Coard, the event will be on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the town.
There will be something to see and do for just about everybody who attends.
Not one, but two Kids’ Zones are offered, and these will include bounce houses and all kinds of games.
Vendors, crafts, lots of food and demonstration of old-world crafts will be featured.
A petting zoo, pony rides and hayrides are planned.
New this year, said Coard, is the Son-Beam Express. For a small fee, people can ride these trains coming into town.
Of course there’ll be live music, including the talents of The Moonshine Band and The Hammerhead Blues. Look for them at the Cumberland Millwork Stage from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A car show will feature antique, classic and unique cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors.
A cookie and cake walk will give visitors chances to win something sweet to eat then or take home.
The Boykins’ mini-museum will be open for the occasion.
A scavenger hunt is also planned from 4 to 6 p.m.
The Heritage Harvest Pageant and Talent Show will be from 4 t 6 p.m. on the Virginia Avenue Stage. Enter online at www.boykinsvirginia.com.
Naturally, there’ll be pumpkins just about anywhere you look. Contests for weight and seeds will be part of that attraction.
Keep in mind that the events and schedules are subject to change.
